Tax credits have undergone some fairly major changes in the last couple of years. The current policy section outlines changes to the system that have taken place over the last few years.
Information about changes to the system in 2014-15 and later years can be found in the future policy section.
In October 2010, the Government announced that both working tax credit and child tax credit would be replaced by Universal Credit which is due to start in October 2013. You can find out more about the move to UC in our transition to Universal Credit section.
